Argentine Artist Juan Ripoll

Artist´s Statement

Juan Ripoll was born in Argentina in 1941. He started painting in his early years and estudied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Spain, where this education way similar to that of a Italian Renaissance artist.  He has lived and pianted in several countries, but it was in New York in 1986 when he started carving wood and was inspired to capture the ephemeral reflections created by nature into his own paintings.  It was then that he developed this Kinetic Art, a style that he defines as his own. The technique is basically  low carved relief on wood, which is then covered with holographic laser aluminum.

Juan Ripoll´s Kinetic Art are delightful and fascinating.  In his pieces, some based on Nature, others on intricate or simple geometrical forms the light is reflected following the time of day, the impact of the surroundings, the viewer´s movements, distance, proximity creating true unique and magical effects.
