Puerto Rican Artist Patrick McGrath Muñiz

Patrick McGrath Muñiz is a Puerto Rican contemporary fine artist. He was born in 1975.  At an early age his family moved to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico where he received his primary and high school education.  In 1993, Patrick enrolled in the School of Fine Arts of San Juan, Puerto Rico. There he studied Graphic Design and Painting. He also took private painting and drawing lessons under the supervision of Fran Cervoni.  In 1996 he travels to Europe where he visits museums, learns and studies old masterpieces. Back in Puerto Rico he opens an art school and Studio in Aguadilla and later in Aguada. During this period he maked several trips to the Caribbean, South and Central America. In 2003 he completed his studies in the School of Fine Arts of San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in fine arts (Magna Cum Laude) majoring in painting. He then exhibits in the “Muestra Nacional” of Instituto de Cultura of Puerto Rico. In 2004, he enrolled in the Savannah Collage of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. In 2006 he obtained a masters degree in fine arts with a major in Painting (Summa Cum Laude). In Savannah, Patrick exhibits his thesis show Iconsumer which then in 2007 takes place in the Museo de las Americas in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Later that year he showed “Iconsumer Media” in El Convento Las Capuchinas, Antigua, Guatemala. Patrick currently shows his work both national and internationally, while living and working in Central Florida.
His work consists primarily of oil paintings addressing current issues such as Neo-Colonialism and Consumerism. Patrick’s work can be found at the Albuquerque Museum in New Mexico, the Mesa Contemporary Art Museum in Mesa, Arizona, the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, as well as a number of private collections in the United States, Caribbean and Latin America.
