Angel Cuevas
"Order is an illusion; chaos is the only honest stuff we are made of. I don't conceive of painting as an act of peaceful contemplation, but as a territory of living friction: a space where destruction and regeneration coexist in constant flux.
My work dwells on the margins of visceral abstraction and neo-expressionism. I don't seek aesthetic complacency, but the truth of impulse and spontaneity. Each plane of color, the density of the pastel, and the gestural violence of the acrylic respond to a vital need: to map the ruptures, the falls, and the transformation that germinates from them".
Angel Cuevas was born on September 1, 1974, in Guatemala City. He is an emerging, self-taught artist who began exploring his creativity in November 2025, inspired by a conversation with friends who suggested he return to art. Having had experience as a photographer in the 1990s, he decided to experiment with acrylic painting. This is his first exhibition of paintings.
