Diego Mesía
Diego Mesía is a contemporary artist recognized for his colorful and vibrant hand-embroidery, his means of expression. Although he has no formal training in arts, he learned the hand embroidery technique from his mother at a very young age. In his work, he explores a variety of themes, including nature, emotions, social values, the future of humanity, technology, and its influence on our daily lives, presenting these themes in fantastical settings filled with bionic beings emerging from his imagination. He also masterfully captures landscapes from his surroundings in an impressionist style. Since 2019, he has participated in several group exhibitions in Guatemala, including the exhibition “Open Doors to Art – Perspectives of Indigenous Peoples” at the Embassy of the European Union (2025) in Guatemala. In October 2023, he participated in the Charity Art Exhibition and Auction in Colonia, Germany, (Oppenheim Palace), a Sotheby’s venue, organized in cooperation with Sotheby’s & Rotary International.
